Led by Mrs. Linda J. Baraka, dynamic First Lady, this initiative targets up to 1,000 women in the City of Newark with a sustainable financial education program that will empower participants to pay off debt, grow savings and get access to different financial services and opportunities.
This campaign is powered by dfree® Financial Freedom Movement in partnership with churches, community organizations and women’s groups in the city.
Participants will sign up to join a 12-week class that can be either instructor-led or self-paced using the dfree® Online Academy. Participants will receive the books, resources and support needed to successfully complete the dfree® 12 Steps to Financial Freedom course.
All women resident in Newark over the age of 18 can sign up to join this campaign for free.
Get trained as a certified dfree® Facilitator to teach dfree® course to participants. Choose between a virtual training session or an in-person event in Newark.
Any individual aged 21 or above who has an interest in leading groups and conducting classes. While prior teaching or knowledge of finance is not necessary, it is essential that the facilitator is enthusiastic about growing wealth in black and brown communities and actively contributing to closing the wealth gap.
Sign up and join a group to participate in the campaign for free. Get resources and support to help you transform your finances and kickoff your journey to financial freedom.
All women regardless of employment status (employed, unemployed, self-employed, retired, student, stay-at-home mom, etc.) who are adult residents of the City of Newark, are eligible to participate at absolutely no cost.
